COVIctory Gardens
2020“COVIctory gardens” explores the garden both as medium and as the manifestation of spiritual, social, cultural, and community needs. This two year project examined the collective implications of individual actions in the context of gardening during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through visual storytelling, the project celebrates how gardening can nurture our spirits, bodies, neighborhood, and community. The project consisted of a youth artist program, artist interviews, and associated garden-engagements.
As part of the project, gardeners shared their images and reflections about gardening during the pandemic. Collaged together and presented in a zine (2022), the images express the personal, ecological, and emotional gifts of gardening during the pandemic.
